Friday April 4 and Saturday April 5, 2008 The University of Chicago Biological Science Division
The aim of this workshop was for participants to spend time reflecting on their goals for their professional and personal lives for the next few years. Specifically, each of the 17 participants created an action agenda with goals and strategies that they shared with the group near the end of the workshop on Saturday afternoon. The workshop included discussions of aspects of academic careers including teaching, research, national trends in science and math and leadership. Although this workshop was geared toward people interested in academic careers, the participants had a wide range of goals for their careers in the next 2-5 years.
Part 1 of the workshop began on Friday evening, April 4th, 2008 at 5:30 and finished about 8:30pm. We continued with Part 2 on Saturday morning starting at 9am and finished about 1:30pm on Saturday afternoon. Meals were provided through funding from the Midstates Consortium, The BSD Postdosctoral Association and the BSD Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs.
