Determining the Precise Pathways of Bimolecular Reactions
We use multiple laser spectroscopy methods in both the frequency and time domains are used to initiate and monitor dynamics within and between molecules. In order to investigate bimolecular interactions, we use weakly bound complexes as launching pads from which we can investigate the dependence of the subsequent dynamics on intermolecular geometry. Quantum mechanical coherence effects are taken advantage of to gain precise information about the specific regions of the potential energy surfaces that lead to certain dynamics.
